U5/U6 – Rules for this Age Group
- 4 quarters are
played. Playing time = 10 minute quarters. Time does not stop for
any reason.
- Coaches are
only allowed to coach on their half of the playing field.
- No goalies,
but a stationary defenders are allowed.
- Number of
players should be 4-6.
- No direct
kicks, indirect kicks or penalty kicks.
- Spectators are
welcome on both sides of the field and are encouraged to help keep
the ball in play.
- If ball goes
out of play, the ball will be kicked in by the team that did not
touch the ball last.
- No throw-ins.
- No switching
sides of the playing field at end of quarters or halftime.
- Playing field
is full width of field using small goals.

U7 – Rules for this Age Group
- 4 quarters are
played. Playing time = 12 minute quarters. Time does not stop for
any reason.
- Coaches are
only allowed to coach from the sidelines.
- Goalies,
stationary defenders are allowed.
- No stationary
forwards are allowed. While the off side rule will not be called, a
player cannot gain an advantage by being in an off side position.
- Number of
players should be 7 or 8 which is inclusive of a goalie.
- No direct
kicks, indirect kicks, penalty kicks or off sides will be called.
- “Free kicks”
are allowed and will be called for a deliberate hand ball or other
infraction.
- If ball goes
out of play to the sides, throw-ins are done by the team that did
not touch the ball last. If ball goes out of play at the ends,
corner kicks or goal kicks will be done depending on who touched the
ball last. If the ball is touched by the defending team last, it’s a
corner kick for the offensive team. If the ball is touched by the
offensive team last, a goal kick is done by the defensive team and
no one is allowed inside the penalty box except the kicker.
- Spectators are
allowed only on the bleacher side of the field. Spectators should
not be around the goal area instructing the players.
- Players and
coaches are on the opposite side of the field.
- Teams will
switch sides at halftime.
- Playing is
full length of field using large goals.
- While players
are encouraged to play their positions, the only set position on the
field is the goalie. All other players are welcome to play any
other position at any time during the game. There is no rule that
states one team cannot have all their players playing offense or
defense at one time.
- If a goalie
change is being made, the coach must alert the referee of the
change.
- Players being
substituted must stand at the half line and are only allowed onto
the field at a stoppage of play (e.g. throw in, corner kick, goal
kick, restart from the ˝ line, injury or other stoppage as directed
by the referee).

reason.

forwards are allowed. Deliberate or obvious off side calls will be
called.
- Number of
players should be 8 or 9 which is inclusive of a goalie.
- “Free kicks”
are allowed and will be called by the referee for a deliberate hand
ball or other infraction. For infractions inside the penalty box by
the defensive team, the referee will pull the ball back to the 18
yard line where a direct “free” kick will be taken.
- No penalty
kicks.

Rules for all
Ages
- Rainouts will be
called at least 1 hour before game time by a designated league
official. Please don’t call because it ties up the phone lines during
a critical time. The web site
www.prospectsoccer.com will have up to date information related to
cancellations.
- Nobody should
delay the start of the game.
- Each play should
play at least 50% of each game.
- 5 Goal rule will
be enforced by the referee. Please make adjustments in your game
strategy if getting close to a 5 goal lead.
- When a team has
a 5 goal advantage, they must remove a play for each goal until they
have less than a 5 goal lead.
- Referee must OK
the return of a player.
- The intent of
this rule is to keep from running up high scores.
- The referee will
briefly explain all infractions to the players.
- Substitutions:
Coach must get referee’s permission BEFORE each sub:
- Prior to a Goal
Kick by either team.
- After a goal by
either team.
- After an
injury, by either team, when the referee stops play
- At quarter or
half time
- NO
substitutions on corner kicks.
- Goalie change
at any time must be communicated to the referee
- Parents and
Coaches must remain on the sidelines during a game until the referee
calls them onto the field for an injury (except U5 or U6, Coach is on
field already)
- Coaches are to
keep all spectators away from the goal end of the field.

- Coaches,
Players & Spectators MUST show respect for the Referee.
- No aggressive
behavior toward any official will be tolerated
- No foul language
will be tolerated from coaches or players
